Ms. Bounds is in her 8th year teaching instrumental music, all of which has been at Santa Teresa High School. She began studying music at age 8 on piano and continued in music by participating in band on flute and later percussion. Ms. Bounds is originally from Eugene, Oregon and attended the University of Oregon receiving a bachelor's degree (with honors) in Music Education. She participated in Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and was the drum major for the University of Oregon Marching Band. Ms. Bounds recently graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill with Masters Degree in Music Education as part of Northwestern's 4 Summer Masters program. Ms. Bounds is the principal percussionist with the Chabot Wind Symphony, President of the Santa Clara County Band Directors Association, California Music Educators Association Jazz South Festival Host, a member of the California Band Directors Convention Committee, Director of the Summer in the City Music Camp and San Jose State University, and teaches classical & jazz percussion lessons.
In what little spare time Ms. Bounds has, she enjoys riding one of her bicycles, reading, listening to music, attending concerts, and hanging out with friends. She enjoys traveling and cooking.
