Financial Aid: FAFSA/Scholarships

Free Application for federal student aid (FAFSA)

For many students, paying for college is beyond comprehension. While it is true that the cost of college is increasing an average of 2.6% for the past 10 years (on average), colleges, universities, and private groups are working harder than ever in trying to find many avenues to help you achieve your dreams.

  • The first step is to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application.
  • Remember that the FAFSA window opens October 1st and must apply before March 2nd.
  • Attend the FAFSA Financial Aid Presentation with your Parents.
  • Filing your FAFSA can only help you so make sure to apply! The FAFSA will determine what kind of financial aid you qualify for---this includes Grants, Scholarships, Work Study, Loans, etc.
  • Your next steps should be to check for scholarship opportunities on the Naviance link. Talk to your counselor to learn about scholarships that are unique to Santa Teresa or East Side Union High School District.
  • Each college/university has scholarship opportunities to help you pay for college so be sure to communicate with the institutions.
