Financial Aid and Scholarships (FAFSA)

For many students, paying for college is beyond comprehension. While it is true that the cost of college is increasing an average of 2.6% for the past 10 years (on average), colleges, universities, and private groups are working harder than ever in trying to find many avenues to help you achieve your dreams.

  • The first step is to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application.  Remember that the FAFSA window opens October 1st and must apply before March 2nd.
  • Attend the following Presentations with your Parents:
    • FAFSA Presentation on October 17, 2018 at 6:00pm in the Theater.
    • Cash For College financial aid support (one-to-one assistance) available to families on November 27, 2018 from 3:30-6:00 pm in the Library.
  • Filing your FAFSA can only help you so make sure to apply! The FAFSA will determine what kind of financial aid you qualify for---this includes Grants, Scholarships, Work Study, Loans, etc.
  • Your next steps should be to check for scholarship opportunities on Naviance. Talk to your counselor to learn about scholarships that are unique to Santa Teresa or East Side Union High School District.
  • Each college/university has unique approaches for paying for college so be sure to communicate with them as well.
